WOW! Great video and I've viewed several different ones on creating a worm bed. I hope to start one next year (2012). Tell me something, do you add a little more water besides what you put in your white kitchen can? And do you periodically add soil besides the kitchen waste?
Boy, I wished I could get my hands on a large container like what you have!

I think your whole family is just great, you seem like the nicest people! Really down to earth!
The show always makes me smile!
How did you get the nickname "Honey"?

We have those Everglades black bears not far but as you know they come into town why they would venture into town with such high property taxes is a mystery to me lol.
Glad you enjoyed the video... our compost is alive and well. Thick with worms. Yes it is good to water with a hose and really soak it during the dry season or when it hasn't rained... i stick the hose in the top hole and let it run while i do something else. the balance of water and ash or dry has to be good. Newspapers and dry leaves in autumn have worked for me over the years. then wet it all down. I don't turn it as not necessary. Blessings with an abundance of worms..

Fantastic we cant do that here due to bears maybe cougars coming around but imagine you could do it in 98% of the states

Yikes... don't feed the cougars.. We had a cougar on our sheep ranch a few years ago... but our dogs treed him and then he took off.

Thank you for posting this! Is that a bin specifically made for composting? It's such a waste to throw away paper towels and food scraps and then buy expensive soil for my garden in the spring. Do we need any 'starter' compost to begin or do we just start dumping the scraps? Thanks! Sarah

Yes, our bin was supplied by the garbage company i guess... it was here when we moved in. We did get one from the San Francisco garbage company a few years ago and i think they sell them at Home Depot. Another you tube shows how to make one... glad you enjoyed the video. We have such happy worms.. will be a great gardeb this year.
