Hundreds of people came to Port Said hospital on Thursday to donate blood, after a football match in the Egyptian governorate turned violent, leaving 75 dead and at least a thousand wounded.
The incident, the deadliest since former president Hosni Mubarak was ousted from power, caused hospitals across the Suez Canal governorates to be on high alert, with dozens of ambulances sent to Port Said.
According to the Ministry of Health, people were injured after fans chased al-Ahly football players who lost the match 1-3 against home team, al-Masry.
Live television showed spectators crowding onto the field chasing after the players before violence escalated.
Meanwhile, fans also set a huge fire at the Cairo Stadium on Wednesday night after a match between Zamalek and al-Ismaily was suspended in condemnation with the Port Said bloody violence.
Islamists however blamed the riot on Mubarak supporters.
47 people have been arrested so far, and the parliament held an emergency session on Thursday. In the meantime, state prosecutors have requested an investigation into the incident.
