The second of the new 2010 series of lighting videos - already!!
We've gone from three per year, to two in the same week! That's when you know its summer. Or when your lawn starts dying, perhaps.

Anyway following complaints that the laser in the last one was quite dull we've got something slightly more interesting - well, the video at the end is worth hanging on for - that's quite pukka as I might say.

Oh and I've discovered it is not physically possible for me to talk at an understandably slow speed, so you'll just have to go with it and see what you can pick up.

The series continues on 2nd July 2010.

  • Good day! I am Brazilian and I'm starting to use the software MagicQ Chamsys. Here in Brazil, this software is still not widely known, and therefore all the information I have, are acquired only through the Internet by people of other countries. I would greatly appreciate your help me clarify a doubt. The magicQ accepts some sort of MIDI controller such as control BCF 2000? thanks

  • @thiagolightmartins Hello! I think you can control the Chamsys software using a MIDI controller when connected with a Chamsys MIDI adaptor - this would allow you to control chases and faders using the BCF 2000 or a similar device. The adaptor is the '0300-0005 MagicQ USB MIDI and Timecode Interface' - there is a lot more information about this on the Chamsys website. I hope this helps. Thanks for watching the video. James.

Don't you love youtube's audio transcriber...

  • @samDOESsongs Yes - I think once it can properly transcribe me gibbering away then we all know that it finally works properly!

  • What spec PC do you use for Chamsys?

  • @samDOESsongs I'm using one of those fancy SONY touchscreens (that's showbiz!) VPCL13S1E, - its only dual core though, but a whopping 8GB of memory - which is of course totally necessary for running Chamsys... Obviously because its really heavy I don't take it out anywhere, we use a fairly modest laptop for running it at events. NEW VIDEO coming very soon with quite possibly the best light show we've ever done since the last one.

  • Thank you, this video is really useful.

I'm fairly new to the Chamsys boards and you have made my learning process much easier.

Just wondering: Do you know how to control Haze machines on the board?

  • Hi James great vid! Is it possible to use an iPad docked onto Alesis IO docking station to run Magic Q and control the PC Wing. How would the connections be, if you mind helping out with this. I am very green yet :-)

    Paulucci.

  • You're a witty guy,... but I'm gonna guess you already know that. Thanks for the laugh!
