@adrianlwkeat the hyllus was a good size 13mm. it was not really afraid of the mangrove jumper .it just moved away slowly .i was just suprised the mangrove did not flee in terror like most other species of jumpers would.

they have the largest jaws porportionate to body size of any jumping spider i have come across. i have seen mangrove jumpers face off with hyllus diardi and successfully back off the larger spider.larger jumping spiders like plexipus paykulli will flee immediately.

hmm...than that hyllus diardi must be quite a small one. I doubt the full sized adult females would be detered by a small mangrove jumper. But i do agree that a mangrove jumper is one tough jumper.
