This video was created in response to observations made both in myself and others. As an ex-Aber I see so much of myself in some of the followers of Abraham Hicks and felt this powerful desire to express my thoughts and feelings on the subject of addiction and the Abraham Hicks teachings.

This video discusses how once addicted the vocabulary of an Aber changes. Some (NOT all) become almost evangelist with the teachings, preaching and proselytizing to all concerned.

Some use the teachings to put down other 'lesser mortals' that either do not follow, have left the teachings or follow other paths.

I felt it important to discuss this and put out there that the leading edge of thought can make some feel rather superior.

To note, something I did not add on this video is that those genuinely on the leading edge of thought have absolutely no need to say so.

It is like a man or woman announcing to the world how humble they are and most of the time those doing this are the exact opposite. Those genuinely humble have no need to speak of this.

This video breaks down some of the ways we as humans follow and communicate our passions.

"A teacher is one who makes himself progressively unnecessary." ~Thomas Carruthers

"The true teacher defends his pupils against his own personal influence. He inspires self-distrust. He guides their eyes from himself to the spirit that quickens him. He will have no disciple." ~Amos Bronson Alcott

"The teacher who is indeed wise does not bid you to enter the house of his wisdom but rather leads you to the threshold of your mind." ~Kahlil Gibran

Try going a week without Abraham Hicks ask yourself how it feels. No videos, no audio and no reading. Your feelings will let you know if you are too dependent.

  • Thanks for your video. You are correct in spiritual people's superiority twist. I've noticed when I was a vegetarian, vegetarians have that also. I love the teachings of Abe and retain my own vocabulary. Addiction is an issue, however it's exciting to live life utilizing the teachings and not having them be a crutch. Actually, I've just discovered Abe recently, and those teachings are aligned with how I thought for myself & how I raised my kids. So I find the teachings refreshing.

  • Thats excellent, its wonderful you are getting confirmation from within through the teachings. Some of us that followed (or still follow) have some experiences to gain from being followers, from giving our power away to teachers and gurus and then we can come back to inner self, when we are ready (and if that is perfect for us at the time). Abrahams teachings did get into my brain in a brainwashing manner and I have gained a lot by recognising this. So thank you for sharing.

  • When a virus attacked my computer for several days, I realized I had been relying on motivational and how-to articles, Abe's videos etc. to give me relief and solutions to my troubles, to give me a quick pill for my ill. Without my PC, I sat there in the calm faced with myself and my life, forced to look within for what it felt like the first time in ages.I understood that not only is looking for external help distancing me from myself, it's also a HUGE waste of time. This is only my experience.

  • Yes, I came to that too. I cannot even find any metaphysical books now that I have any urge to read. I am learning by life and experience internally now. AND everything makes more sense.

  • I own two books by A-Hicks but never considered myself an A-Hicks follower. Just a guy who is trying to learn from many things. Are you trying to say A-Hicks is a fraud? Or are you saying something else? As for me, I think what they teach has some insight but some of it I question too. Some of the hardcore A-Hicks followers, I admit, come off a bit phony to me as well. Also, do you still believe in manifesting?

  • Well the core teachings were good, wisdom of the ages, passed down through many spiritual teachers over the years. It is when it became very commercial and you could tell the publishers were involved I feel they lost the heart and love of the original teachings. I believe things evolve and appear, in perfect timing, naturally. It can also mean when it is time we begin to allow and welcome in those things we wanted. That can be part of the naturally evolving universe. No force, no effort, natural.

  • Eckhart Tolle has a great analogy for what you are seeing with the "followers" of Abraham. Teachings and religions are like sign posts pointing the way to enlightenment. Most religions or sign posts all point to the same place, source energy, the space between the space, consciousness, God etc. The problem arises when people become obsessed with the form of the teachings rather than actually implementing them. You see this with everything in the world from religion, global warming, etc

  • Hmmm....blaming the teacher/teachings here is a bit like someone blaming the company that manufactures pill bottles for the fact that they became addicted to pills. Unless we're willing to take full responsibility for the fact that we've subjugated our own voice to that of another, we are further 'muffling' that inner wisdom. Abraham's main message is to follow our own inner guidance. I'm astounded that someone could 'follow' these teachings so closely, yet miss the foundation of the message.

  • Okay I'm an aber, but abraham teachings arent right for this lady. Kelly a few of the things you said at the end ' make peace with where you are now' etc etc is also what abraham teaches, But I know you probably mean it in a different way. I know that your message is a loving one, but it's however you pick it up, with any kind of information you receive from other folks.

  • You said it so well: the lack of love and compassion in the Abe teachings is exactly why I just can't get warm with them. There is NOTHING wrong with having negative thoughts, and beating yourself up about it will only drive you more towards despair. Yes, you don't need Abraham Hicks, the answers are right within yourself, because that is where God lives. :-)

  • In self righteousness you are consumed with NEGATIVITY, so if LOA is "true" then guess what your going to attract to you??? You did BRAINWASH yourself...been there done that with aliens & government, end of world, organic vs chemical..omg!! the insanity so consuming & "out of control" gained my most weight, so lovely...not!! For me only time will tell, your approach served u but how u use it is up2 u!!!

  • i have NEVER believed in addiction...As for any comments on chosen words one might use that copy's Abraham is like saying you CAN'T use a DICTIONARY....NO WORDS actually belong to any given person, given they maybe your fave vs others...i use a thesaurus and choose words that SPEAK to me...it sounds like you took the path of PREACHING & became very SELF RIGHTEOUS!! Ab isn't saying avoid those ppl etc like you state it...seems to me you clearly NEVER UNDERSTOOD the information in the 1st place!

  • It sounds to me that you are finally paying attention to your inner self. =0)

  • You brainwashed yourself.

  • I think this says more about you than it does the teachings of Abraham.

  • This is thought provoking, thank you

  • You look so good! How did I manage to click on you and see you here :) You look incredebly good! :D

  • chocolate doesn't promise you to fix your life from top to bottom... For someone as naive/trusting as myself, and really as a very diligent and dedicated student, if someone knowing it all preaches with such a confidence about so many things, and you try to learn and use it as best as you can... this is becoming larger than a bar of chocolate... this is more like cocaine!
