17 September 2009 On her second day of visit to Turkey, President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo held talks with Dr. Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, Secretary General of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC), to solidify the Philippines' bid for an observer status in the OIC. In her bilateral meeting with President Abdullah Gul in Ankara yesterday, the Turkish leader assured President Arroyo of his country's support and promised to do everything that he can to ensure the Philippines' admission to the OIC. The President also updated Dr. Ihsanoglu on the government's peace process with the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) which adopted a framework on the formation of the International Contact Group (ICG) last 15 September 2009. The ICG will mobilize international support for the GRP-MILF peace process and invite the OIC, the European Union and eminent persons to participate in its activities. Moreover, both parties agreed to facilitate the return of persons displaced by the conflict to their communities and establish a Civilian Protection Mission (CPM) to protect non-combatants. At the sidelines of the 15th Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) Summit in Egypt last July, President Arroyo got the support from the leaders of Lebanon, Bangladesh, Morocco, Malaysia, Tajikistan, Turkey, Sudan and Libya for the Philippine's OIC observer bid. While at the OIC 36th Session of the Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM) held in Syria last May, Indonesia's Foreign Minister Nur Hassan Wirajuda proposed that the Philippines be granted observer status which was supported by the following OIC member states -- Malaysia, Iran, United Arab Emirates, Syria, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Morocco, Libya, Bahrain, Kuwait, Jordan, Oman, Iraq, Turkey, Uganda, Bangladesh and Brunei Darussalam.

This is the poisonous organization that is repeatedly pushing for blasphemy, defamation and hate speech resolutions to be adopted by the U.N.
this is a blatant attempt to criminalise criticism of islam, with the goal of gagging free speech in the west.
it would eventually be used 2 get even the stone-age intolerant & discrimatory sharia laws cordoned off from criticism.
the SUPREMACIST brand of islam aches to shut people up and forbid them to question or discuss such matters. 4them2 prevail
