Used cars are OK
We laughed, we cried, it was the best of times at the Excelsior City Council meeting on Monday night. We learned that the Excelsior City Council is highly receptive to used car sales.
Last week we learned that Bill Mason Chrysler Jeep is losing its franchise agreement next month, part of a 25 percent reduction in the companys retail sales operations. For the 83-year old family-owned dealership, the focus will shift to used vehicles and expanding its automotive service center to accommodate all makes and models.
New car sales are the only area of four in the company that is not profitable, Bill Mason told the council.
Excelsiors zoning code, however, prohibits used vehicle sales unless the business is also selling new vehicles. Mason is requesting an ordinance change to permit his business to sell used vehicles exclusively, a request the council is eager to accommodate.
Tune in Wednesday for another news nugget from Monday nights Excelsior meeting.
Going camping this Memorial Day weekend? Be sure to bear-proof. Grizzly bears at the Minnesota Zoo in Apple Valley recently demonstrated what could happen when bears visit a campsite.
