Also, the M54 engine family is the best L6 BMW ever made. It won several price for built quality and innovation. My friend is about 250 000 miles on his 1999 325i. He never touch to the engine. But the electrical system seem to have difficult to pass over years and years, that's true. But if I compare my 325i 2001 with a 2001 from other brand, mine is not in so bad condition....Anyway, that is my opinion after owned and maintened 3 bmw ...

You said that your 325i was a lemon. Its possible. All brand got lemon. Its all about human factor and parts origine. But in the overall, a 2003 bmw is better than a Golf. Better quality, tough construction, more reliable. Compare a 2007 car with a 2007 car : feature, quality, performance, stability, fuel consuption, engine quality and innovation. I said a bmw made in germany is better than a golf built at mexico plant.....
