Chapter 24

Selena's POV
I ripped my hand away from his in a matter of seconds once we'd exited the kitchen. I glared at him in total surprise from the blur I'd just witnessed.
"Joseph Adam Jonas! You tell me what Nick meant /right now!/" Emphasizing the last couple of words to show my seriousness. I heard him sigh deeply and turned to face me. He placed his hands just beneath each of my shoulders on either side of me.
"Which part?"
"The part where you /raped/ and /beat/ Taylor!" I shoved his arms away rather violently, to which his expression at first was shock. I never pushed him away like that, ever. It hurt me to do it as well. I know when I had first done it years ago he felt so rejected and wouldn't come out of his room for days. He then frowned in disagreement. Joe knew that I could tell when he lies, so he wouldn't get out of this easy.
"Just forget about it." He replied calmly and began to turn away until I blocked his way.
"NO. Tell me now, did you hurt Taylor?"
"Y-yes." He paused for a moment. "Yeah I did." I felt sick to the stomach. If he did this to other girls imagine what he could've done to me in the past. It freaks me out to wonder over the reason of why he hadn't.
"I-I..." was lost for words. "Why?"
"I can't tell you..."

Joe's POV
"I can't tell you..." My heart ached so much, for years now, however the pain was beggining to violently erode my heart for it to wither down to nothing. I don't know how I was coping with standing up straight. Being so completely in love with the girl of my dreams and she doesn't even know it is so hard to handle. I needed to make it hurt more. Take the pain of my scratched and torn heart away from me. That is why I did that to Taylor. I needed someone close to know what it felt like. Now that Selena was seeing someone again that she really had a big chance with and could be the man of /her/ dreams I may as well give up trying to take the pain away...I observed her backing up a couple of steps as I took a one towards her apologetically. I hadn't noticed, but a tear had escaped my right eye.
"One; I told you to stop with the rape, but in stead you go ahead and add beating to the equation. Two you had to go for the girl that at least once was practically your family! Three...please, please, don't cry Joe." I couldn't help my watery eyes. Everything was a blur apart from the beautiful angelic face infront of me. She seemed as if she was about to cry herself. "Y-you need to stop it Joe. All of i-it."
"Sel I'm so, so sorry, but I really can't. You don't underst-"
"No you're right, I don't understand, so tell me."
"I-I can't..." My head dropped in shame at the failure to admit my deep secret.
"I'm not speaking to y-you until you d-do then." With that she rushed for the front door as the tears fell from her heavenly chocolate brown eyes. They seemed black, almost lifeless, like I felt. I ran after her as fast as I could but she made a better turn on the corner than myself. Too late, she was out the door in a flash. Just then lightning struck and thunder clashed with it seconds later. It was so close, I had to go out and get her, she couldn't even get home in this! I raced down the long weary drive. My eyes frantically searched for her as I called after her through the pounding rain. She'd already crossed the road when I reached it. My whole world fell, crushed when I saw her. I felt as though I'd just been scewered over a volcano. I could've collapsed right then and there once I laid my eyes on her.
