  • It's amusing to see the geeks' righteous indignation about this film. I've been watching for 30+ years and I was delighted with this movie, the cast and the story. I can't wait to see it again.

  • Star trek is finally way cooler than star wars and i dont say that lightly.

  • this is a great movie and my dad agrees considering the plot denies nerds like me from the satisfaction of nagging the producers on the many plot hole errors due to the fact that it is an alternate universe :)

  • @mummra4ever. Hi. Be careful with my "old friend" Zenuthedick, he loves a good fight but hates to lose. PS don't cave into people who know nothing about Trek, especially the ones who claim to have been watching it for decades. Some of them might be telling the truth but they never really understood Star Trek. Remember it's not nostalgia to want to preserve Roddenberry’s vision of Star Trek; it’s honoring an artist’s legacy. The new Trek is like putting paints on Michael Angelo’s David.

  • Well I'm not really all that nostalgic for TOS as I only watched it for the first time a few years ago and I think aside from things like the seeming sexist way towards women and the special effects the show holds up otherwise because of it's good characters and it's stories about the human condition which at the core of those stories is timeless to me.

  • I know that's what it was trying to do but I just wish that they could have done that without getting rid of the more intelligent parts of trek because I still think they could have done so with that intact. Maybe the sequel will be more like that.

  • @mummra4ever Besides as someone who grew up in 90's with TNG and DS9, the new film presents the original crew in a better way. TOS is too 60's for me. Others who lived in the 60's may have a better understanding for it or feel nostalgia for that era. It's o.k. I feel the same way for the late 80's.

  • @mummra4ever O.K I may have been too harsh but the idea was to attract new and younger fans. In the movies of the last years there are several characters with emotional problems, criminal past etc. who overcame it. Kirk may just be an answer to this tougher kind of genre cinema. And it is clear that this is an alternate reality that shaped the persons. I see it as the beginning of a new series of films. This one is the pilot which tells how the crew came together. The actionplot is forgetable.
