@jwdundon dude jack o'conner killed every wild game in the world with a 270 and you think your cool with a big calliber you prob suck at shooting and flinch like crazy.

sweet! so how far would you shoot at an elk with a 270 win, so lets say yes to expert shot etc type of deal. my question is say if someone was "that good" how far really can it be killed really? thank you

The 270 is great... BUT at dear camp... you will ALWAYS find some extra 06 shells available - can't say that about the .270
I use those little "pop-guns" sometimes, BUT when i absolutly posstivily want my elk (or heavins sake buck to die) .375 RUM....

I love the .270. I have a Sako 85 Hunter and find it very accurate using 130gn Remington Core-Lokt. Prior to this I had a Ruger 1-B falling block single shot (also .270) and it seemed to shoot better with plain old winchester power points. Great cartridge in whatever form!

The .270 is a flatter shooting cartridge. I have a Remington SPS varmint in .223 and I prefer the Tikka T3 over the SPS model. Check out the Sako A7's, I just bought one and it's a step above the regualr T3's.
