Mr. Muscle is a brand of hard surface cleaners primarily used for cleaning ovens. It has been manufactured by S. C. Johnson & Son, since their purchase of Drackett from Bristol-Myers in 1992. The original product was developed at Drackett in the early 1970s.

The product quickly grew to be the second best-selling oven cleaner. The product's popularity was limited by the strong fumes it created, as well as the length of time required required to thoroughly clean. Consumers were not thrilled at the prospect of awakening in the morning to the task of wiping chemicals, carbon and grease out of their ovens.

If you think you recognize the actress with her head in the oven...You may recall her later housekeeping work in the NBC series Diff'rent Strokes. That's Charlotte Rae.

Charlotte was a great character actress and was always fun to watch. She fit the comedy relief role so well. Loved her on the Facts of Life. I wonder where she is now? Thanks for posting this friend. A vintage 5 star winner!

There's an old TV ad here on YouTube with Charlotte Rae taking a shower (!) while she extols the virtues of "clean, safe oil heat". At first, she's startled to see a camera crew in her shower, but at the end she's rather titillated by the idea of America seeing her naked. And of course, she used to run around in a bathing suit in Hulk Hogan's show "Thunder In Paradise". Quite a hussy, that Mrs. Garrett . . .
