An introduction to mechanical music from the Musical Box Society International, MBSI. This is the first of eight chapters designed to acquaint viewers with the possibilities of collecting, restoring and enjoying all forms of mechanical music.
Around 5min 10 sec, you see instruments in restaurants and social places. Why don't we do this anymore? I'd pay good money just to eat in a place with a good restored nickelodeon or orchestrion! Can someone finish their time machine so I can go back to this time period? I know safety is not guaranteed, but at least I could collect as many rag and blues music rolls as possible for preservation :)
Yeah, I noticed the band organ music in Rollercoaster Tycoon. I gotta get that installed again, was a lot of fun making coasters to test and send people to their doom lol
In deafness I cannot interpret your words but the melodies are magnificent. I treasure the heritage of the mechanical era. I find it difficult to repair these old mechanical charmers because their inventors and technicians were capable of so very much. A single tune on a single roll or plate is to me as great as the architectural achievement of a large building.
Is the music that begins at 3:09 an aria from Haydn's Creation!?
