The history of the English Bible and the Protestant Reformation.

This is the evolution of how the Scriptures were freed from the Roman Catholic church and those who were persecuted and killed in the fight for that right. Every Christian needs to know this history. It will give you strength in your walk with Christ and respect for the later period of men who fought for your right to interpret the Scriptures for yourself and your freedom from the tyranny of the Catholic Church.

If you are a Roman Catholic, it is even more important that you are privy to the information within this video series. Although the inquisition is over physically, it is not over spiritually.

Music: Michael W. Smith "Healing Rain" Darlene Zschech "Shout To The Lord"

  • Excellent presentation.

  • Thank you, friend.

  • First Printed Bible in German (1466)

Before Martin Luther was even born, a German-language Bible was published in 1466, using Gutenberg's invention. Known as the Mentel Bible, this Bibel was a literal translation of the Latin Vulgate. Printed in Strassburg, the Mentel Bible appeared in some 18 editions until it was replaced by Luther's new translation in 1522.

  • Maputo,

I would encourage you to review the video. Nowhere did I say that Luther was the first to translate a Bible into German. Please review from 6:33. What I said was absolutely factual and I quote myself:

"[Luther] would translate the NT into German for the first time from the GREEK-LATIN NEW TESTAMENT OF ERASMUS and published it in 1522."

There are no lies to expose here. I quoted history and you failed to read the information correctly.

No harm no foul. Just be careful.

    Grace

  • "Either this (the original Greek manuscripts) is not the Gospel, or we are not Christians" (Dr Thomas Linacre)

"And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins. Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ are lost. If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are to be pitied more than all men. But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep." (1 Corinthians 15:17-20)

    Praise God for His mercy.

  • Thank you for your comment, friend. It lifts me up when brothers and sisters come and bless with wonderful Scripture.

Thank you again and may His wonderful peace and love keep you.

  • i didnt pause for anysec excellent timings;))))

  • awesome vid!

  • Luther added a word to God' holy Word in order to support his flawed doctrine. So sad people still follow him.

  • Those who do not know the history of translating the Bible into English do not know a key part of the history of democracy and human freedom in the "West".

  • The fact that the title of this video is in all caps kills any authenticity you may have. Learn how to be professional, also, the fact that this is a Christian based video shows innate bias before the presentation has begun, so I didn't even watch this.

  • Martin Luther advocated for burning down Jewish synagogues, calling the Jewish house of worship "an incorrigible whore and an evil slut". He argued Jews's schools be set on fire, their prayer books destroyed, rabbis forbidden to preach, homes razed, and property and money confiscated. In his tract "On the Jews and their lies", Luther writes "(Christians) are at fault in not slaying them" for avenging the death of Jesus Christ.

    Luther was a bigoted fanatic.

  • If Protestantism is "the way, how come the is one Catholic church and 5000+ denominations? Who leads you? Whom do you go to for the hard interpretations-- 5000+ leaders?

  • Then I pray that same Pope will apologize for the persecutions of the Protestants and acknowledge them as fellow Brother & Sister in Christ and do away with the heresies of the Catholic Church once and for all.

  • I pray for the Catholic faith, that one day, a Pope may arise, who says, "I am not the Vicar of Christ, nor has any Pope ever replaced Jesus' authority & presence here on Earth" and that that Pope will have the courage to mend the Church and bring it back to its Orthodox roots, and join the Orthodox Church and allow its Priests to marry.

  • Martin Luther did convert back to Catholicism. o.o

Anyway, this DID happen and we all know it did, but Catholics are not tyrants. :3 We're the most ancient demonination of the church and a part of Christianity as well. Every old nation, religion, whatever, has done something bad in its past. The Protestant religions aren't that old yet at all; nor are they as large or widespread as the Catholic church.

    Proud to be a Catholic!
