With the simple tale of an ant, philosopher Dan Dennett unleashes a devastating salvo of ideas, making a powerful case for the existence of memes -- concepts that are literally alive.

Religion is also in evolution, bravo Dennett! Missing from the analytically and religious sides is a genuine understanding of the art form and appeal of Mythology. When we allow ourselves to understand Islam (referenced in the posting) as an abstract mythology, we see the value of the "submission to god cliche" as a letting go of all doctrines. World Beat music coming out of the Middle East is more powerful than fundamentalism. Hash smoking Euro-hippie trash will save us all!

Dennett, Dawkins, Harris and Hitchens (health permitting) are coming to the Atheist conference in Melbourne, Australia next year.
