@DV8hc its not JUST your height...not all people are perfectly proportionate..has to do with ground to crotch, ground to hips, and armspan, and all other kinds of stuff. im not an expert so i dont want to give you bogus advice, but its way more than just height.
So what is the proper sequence, adjust the saddle height first using the Goniometer and then use the plumb line the adjust the saddle forward/backward or vice versa?

Most likely, his cleat is forcing his foot to point either inward or outward. Remove the cleat from his shoe, and put 3 layers of duct tape over the bottom of the shoe where the cleat would normally be, and let him ride around a little bit. Where the indentation is left, is where the cleat best fits. Easiest way to find fit on SPD pedals.
