  • what video editing software did you use

  • @36wetpaint

    Sony Vegas Pro

After few nightmarish experiences with Pinnacle, I passed to Sony and I must say I find it fantastic. Few features are missing, but overall is of great quality, inspiring flexibility and remarkably stable. Maybe at bit slow in rendering or pre-viewing.

  • You have done a good job what camera did you use and how did you keep it dry also what editing prog, neat transitions

  • @bomax1066 Thanks,

I used a Canon Vixia10. It was 2008, and the new Canon Vixia have far better compression and bit throughput capabilities.

I didn't prepare enough for water insulation, so as a consequence most spectacular events couldn't be captured. We had 30 knots on the nose for days, and the only thing I could take is a fraction of moments, between splashes, ready to dock behind the dodger as soon as the buckets of water were thrown at us from the bow and the hull.

  • @bomax1066 Exasperated by Pinnacle crashing tools, in my previous works, I decided to switch to Sony Vegas (Pro).

Perhaps less reach in the effects collection (no auto color correction, for example) tremendously more complete in any other aspects of the editing (automation support for every parameters of every effects, track, 3D, panning, secondary color correction, audio editing and most of all: robustness. I could work for hours and hours forgetting about risks of crashes or freezes.

  • Are you Canadian? It says Toronto on your boat but I don't see the flag?

  • @kodakZX1

yes, we are all canadian, from Montreal, except the boat, from Toronto.

She was transported on land from Montreal to San Diego CA, and from there sailed across the pacific.

The flag should be there, maybe hidden from the camera by the dodger...

  • I have been using Edius for a few years now I also used Premiere CS4, I find Edius to be a great editing program never seems to crash and you do not have to render all the time even if you are doing a multi camera edit unlike Premier. I used to live in Montreal years ago and my boat is registered there used to be in the Point Clair Yacht club she is also a Contessa 32 and was trucked to Vancouver were I set off across the Pacific like you

  • You have ddone a good job what camera did you use and how did you keep it dry also what editing prog, neat transitions

  • @flaviotti Well it's wonderful to see a fellow CDN take on the challenge. Makes it all the more real for me. I'm shopping for my boat now. I'm looking in the 35 to 38 range but there are too many options!
