I agree after seeing him several times. He is at least Tommy equal, he was voted # 2 acoustic player worldwide in 03 I think, just behind Leo Kottke.

@rtgray7 I also have seen Doyle up close several times and agree, his original songs are better and cannot be touched.

I've read most of these comments and I would just like to say that you would have to see Doyle's solo show to see how good he really is. It's hard to believe but this type of stuff isn't where he excels. Check out a live show if you can and you'll get to hear his medleys and some original stuff. He is a devout Christian and very involved with his family. He doesn't get the exposure of most master guitarist. Both deserve to be called the best!! Would love to see Tommy live.

These guys are the best, everyone knows Tommy, but Doyle deserves to be heard by more people. I think he enjoys staying close to his family and not on the road as much as Tommy. Tommy works too hard, travels too much. But who am I to say.
The are both such fabulous musicians in every way.
