I admire this guy, but freedom of speech does not preclude violating a contract, regardless of how much money the other side is making. He has every right to display the sign, but Shell also has the right to end the contract.

That station is near monterey california

The true American spirit of our forefathers lives in this man. If there were more Americans like him, we wouldn't be staring down the barrel of $3.27 a gallon of gas right now.
-
@wfran15 Because he has a backbone to stand up for what is right unlike the majority of spineless pussy American's who continue to get fucked by government and corporations. Money is nothing. Pride and dignity is everything.

@DarthCrimsonDeath You slightly missed my point, though I see your arguement it really didn't pertain to what I was talking about.

Yes, but people HAVE to buy gas to get to where they are going especially in a place like California. You don't have to buy candy or food at the gas station, you are paying for the convenience, you should go to the proper grocery store which are actually able to stock on truckloads of individual items to give you your discounts. It's not about the owner hurting, it's about all of us hurting.

All Gas Station owners price gouge on the food they sell, so him fighting gas prices is small potatoes comparied to the $3.00's for only a half gallon of milk, or the .49 cent package of Soup Mix costing $2.00, and the .60 cent box of Mac & Cheese that costs $2.89 more than make up for it. All gas station owners price gouge on all their convinience foods up to 4x to 5x what it's actually worth. So I'm sure this gas station owner isn't hurting much with his $5.98 for a $2.30 box of ice cream.

yes with oil the tariff does get passed onto the consumer because our demand is inelastic (we will buy regardless of the price). i think that statistic would be about europe, and i am not sure if its because of heavy tariffs, inefficient shipping, or something else but yeah it is much more expensive over there

Does the tariff get passed on to the consumer? I heard a while back that oil from over seas (not sure about all of it) was $10 more per barrel than domestic oil.
Got to respect this man. He's one of the few that will stand up to these giants. I'd do as much shopping in his little store as I could if I were near it. That's sad man.
