from the 1970 album It Ain't Easy - written by Paul Williams and Roger Nichols

Whenever I need to leave it all behind, Or feel the need to get away
I find a quiet place, far from the human race, Out in the country

Before the breathing air is gone, Before the sun is just a bright spot in the nighttime
Out where the rivers like to run, I stand alone and take back something worth remembering

Whenever I feel them closing in on me, Or need a bit of room to move
When life becomes too fast, I find relief at last, Out in the country

Before the breathing air is gone, Before the sun is just a bright spot in the nighttime
Out where the rivers like to run, I stand alone and take back something worth remembering

  • Beautiful video and my favorite Three Dog Night song !! Had it on a single as a kid now it occupies a space on my IPOD !! Makes me think of the stories my hippie friends tell me about traveling cross country in the early 70's with their band.

  • @HMACDONALD69 this was one of my first 45 records! too bad the iPod can't replicate the snaps and pops of years of listening ;.)

  • when this song came out i wanted to be a forest ranger so bad - 40 some odd years later i will be doing it - some things are never forgotten but need to be finished - thanks three dog night -

  • @nutbagbrew102 CONGRATULATIONS hope you enjoy!!! In high school we took these tests to see what careers we'd be most suited for, Forest/Park Ranger for me was #2.....and I wonder all the time how my life would be different had I went down that road.....wish you all the best !

  • Okay, enough already, I'm subscribing, are you happy now. Last night I popped by for a Pablo Cruise song and had to leave right after, but came back to check your channel tonight...love it...unique. I hope you don't mind if I take off my shoes and stay a while.

  • @Endrium100 out in the country shoes are always optional, thank you very much ;.)

  • Reminds me of running through the alfalfa fields, as a young girl. Might seem lame, to some of you, but running and singing this tune, I felt free for the only time in my life ! And this song does take me back to that time. Thank you, Paul Williams ( the greatest songwriter.....EVER !& Roger Nichols, also a legend,in my opinion) and Three dog night for amazingly performing this great tune !!

  • absolutely beautiful song. these guys sang from their souls. this song reminds us of what is to come if we don't solve our environmental problems. before the breathing air is gone. before the sun is just a bright spot in the night time. amen to that.

  • @LLcoolDel

has always had the same effect on me since the days I used to listen to it on my mom & dad's console stereo back when it came out. I was probably 6 or 7 years old and the vibe just hit me. music is so incredibly powerful in ways that we can't even explain...

  • @GIZOKS he still is! i saw them in concert two years ago this month and they are still touring...he can still shred a guitar

  • THIS SONG DOES SOMETHING TO ME INSIDE. I THINK IT MUST STIR UP SOME FEELINGS OR LONGINGS. IT IS SO BEAUTIFUL. DOES ANYBODY UNDERSTAND WHAT I MEAN?

  • 4 dislikes? How can anyone dislike this sound and accompanied photo montage What do they have, rocks in their heads?

  • Who sang lead on this? It sounds like Chuck.

  • two tone deaf people visited here

  • Fantastic song!

  • THIS IS A SWEET SONG FROM THE BEST DECADE............LOL

  • @jkallboys absolutely...I remember going for a swim at a waterfall near my house, and on the way, this song played on the radio in the car....perfect for the moment
