@elzgio1 You find the Minor Seventh (m7) two halfsteps below the root. ---> Am7 = A(root)-C(third)-E(fifth)-G(m7). The Major Seventh (Maj7) is only one halfstep below the root, f.e. GMaj7 = G(root)-B(third)-D(fifth)-F#(Maj7). In a Diminished Seventh Chord (Dim7) the distance between the several notes is three halfsteps. ---> G#Dim7 = G#(root)-B(third)-D(fifth)-F(Dim7). Start thinking in steps (I, II, III, etc) to understand the harmonics, then it's easy to understand.
