I can't wait for Tornado to get some colour on her! It's been started now, but they've now proved that steam will live on in new builds of old designs. She's a thing of beauty.

was talking to a spotter on york station who saw no point in tornado.what a prick!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A fine beast indeed! But I want to see a BRAND NEW 'Grange' built to join this forerunner of NEW steam traction

Some people don't have an apprietation for history and that engines significance. Same with our 4449, many poeple don't even know "why" it was restored- TO PULL OUR COUNTRY'S BICENTENNIAL TRAIN!!
-
I read about that. A group of donors would donate the same amount of money PER WEEK that a pint of ale would cost. GREAT IDEA!

just gos to show what can be achieved by pontificating over a good old fashioned pint! What a thing to be able to tell the grand kids you were involved with!

Martin, this video was absolutely outstanding mate, in a class of its own, loved the up-close and personal touch, the footplate totally out of tghis world, there seems to be a lot of modern tech gone into an old design, but her predecessors proved their worthiness, and no doubt 60163 Tornado cruise through any test proffered to her in years to come..thanks for this video mate, it will take pride of place in my collection, keep em coming..John
Very interesting and well shot BUT filmed in 16:9 and shown in 4:3 Why is that?

The original format was wrong for YT so I had to convert it - that's when I made the mistake. I forgot to change to 16:9.
