Till the End of Time [Chapter 17 Part 2]

*Brynn looks up and Joe to see him grinning down at her. She smiles back and he leans down to brush his lips against hers. When he pulls back after only a moment, she looks at him questioningly, plainly wanting more. He laughs.*

JOE: Hold on there, Brynn. You have had more than enough trauma today. Let's get you home first. Then I'm yours. *He leans down and kisses her forehead again, whispering...* Now go to sleep. We'll leave first thing in the morning. I called your parents to tell them what happened, but they are still...

BRYNN: *Interrupting him.* At that meeting! Oh my gosh I forgot that they had to go to that business thing in Washington DC! They wont be home until tomorrow afternoon!

JOE: It's okay. I told them everything, and they said they will try to get home as soon as they can tomorrow, directly after their meeting. So it's all settled. Just go to sleep now.

BRYNN: *Suddenly looking worried.* Where will you go?

JOE: *Laughing at her concern.* Don't worry, I'm not going to leave. I am, however, going to... *He gets up and walks around to the other side of the hospital bed. After making sure that Brynn is totally comfortable, he lies down, on top of the blankets, next to Brynn and puts his arms around her.* Is this okay?

BRYNN: Perfect.

*She snuggles into his arms and is almost instantly asleep. Joe, smiling down at her peaceful form next to him, gradually falls asleep with his arms still holding her tightly to his chest.*

*Joe wakes the next morning and is at first very confused about where he is. As he lays there with his eyes closed, he notes the unfamiliar sounds of the room and the medical smell lingering around him. Then he realizes that there is something warm against his chest. Instantly, he remembers the events of yesterday...Brynn's ankle, the trip to the hospital, their kiss...and he smiles as he opens his eyes. Sure enough, Brynn is laying next to him, watching him sleep. She smiles when she sees that he is awake.*

BRYNN: Hello sleepyhead. Did you have a nice little nap?

JOE: *Smiling.* Yes I did. How is your leg?

BRYNN: Well it started to hurt at around ten, but the nurse came in and I asked her for more medicine. So now it's numb again.

JOE: Well I am not sure if that's good or bad, but... Wait a second, she came in at ten? As in ten in the MORNING?

*He sits up and looks at his watch.*

JOE: Oh my gosh! It's past noon! Why didn't you wake me?

BRYNN: You looked tired. *Smiles at him.* But the doctors said we can go home at 12:30. Are you ready?

JOE: *Stretching and getting off the bed.* Yup, sounds good. Do you need help?

*Joe, with the help of a nurse, guides Brynn into a standing position and hands her the crutches. At first she begins to wobble unsteadily on her huge cast, but Joe's hands are securely at her waist, making sure she doesn't fall. Together, they slowly walk outside and find Kevin waiting in the parking lot after a call from Joe. Kevin drives them all to Brynn's house, and stops in front of her driveway. He lets Joe help Brynn out of the car and up to her front door. They climb the steps and Brynn stops on her doorstep, leaning against the door. Joe doesn't want to leave her, so he tries to get her to talk before going inside.*
