Insector X (NES / Famicom) Stage 1

Famicom-only shmup by Taito. It's a really short game, only 5 stages. There's also a Sega Genesis version.

@borealisimperium dumbass this is the original version. The genesis version came few years late and the graphics were redone. Even than, the genesis version is half assed. For one, it as no parallax scrolling, and 2nd, it looks only slightly better than this in terms of colors.

The arcade is really the only place to go for anything Insector x. Too much was changed in the ports.

Well of course the genesis had better graphics/sound. This is an NES game. NES was released in 1986, the genesis wasn't released until 1989. And by that time the Super Nintendo was just around the corner.

Also, the NES port was far more truthful to the original arcade game. You should do read around before you pop off at the mouth.

I liked the genesis version, but I found the NES version to be incredibly sexist. The girl is so much stronger than the guy it's not even funny. The girl has strong shots, a wider range, automatic trigger, AND can kill all except the last boss just but touching them. The guy has week, straight, manual shots, and can't kill bosses by touching them. It's like Taito assumed that guys were better at games than girls, so they god-modded the girl to make it easier for girls, who they thought sucked.

I remember it as "Queen Bee". I love it - I played it 10 years ago and this is the best game in the world
