University of Maryland students riot on Route 1 in College Park after a win against arch-rival Duke on March 3, 2010. (Video shot and edited by WTOP intern and University of Maryland intern Jamie Forzato.)
Fucking ignorant thugs. Inconveniencing tax payers by crowding the streets for a victory they had nothing to do with and being so damn loud like mindless monkeys. Oh, they were black and/or latin? Nevermind, I take that back. Just college kids having a good time. Sorry for that folks.
@mscotthill Did you see the guy almost get killed on Knox Rd?? I did. His head was gushing blood. Once the police stopped pinning him against the wall and beating him, he fell unconscious into a pool of his own blood. If you actually cared to follow up any of this, you would see that the police issued formal statements apologizing to the students. Get some.
@mscotthill Were you there? what property did you see being damaged, cause i was there when it started and after it was over, and nothing was damaged, besides on street sign. the police took actions that angered the students, causing rebellious action. you dont just gas a group of people and charge them with riot shields and horses because they are in the street. They never once said leave. and last I checked this is America and we have rights.
The main issue with this riot is the fact that the police created the riot, they were set up for it hours before it occurred. had they taken a better attack at this besides gassing and beating students the event would have lasted no more than half an hour. But because the police took such actions it lasted well over two hours. and as for damaging property, only one street sign was taken, which was replaced the next day, nothing more. there was just excitement, and celebration.
@mscotthill When there's a riot going on, and the cops tell you to leave, you don't try to cross their line, or stand there and try to debate it, as he did. You leave. Like he should have done hours before this happened. There has to be a line drawn, and he crossed it.
What they don't show here is the extent of the rioting. The cops were getting rocks and bottles thrown at them. The had thousands of ADULTS in the streets, refusing to leave, damaging property, acting like animals. At the 33 second point of this video, you see a bottle fly right towards the officers. Convenient that's where they insert the interview, huh?
