Great tune from London's 80s act The Perfect Disaster, which was basically singer and guitarist Phil Parfitt and an ever changing band. Signed to Fire records, they released four albums before splitting in 1991. Previous members of the band went on to be in Ultra Vivid Scene, Fields of the Nephilim and The Breeders, while Parfitt went on to work with Spiritualized's Jason Pierce. '55 Miles' is a typically Velvets meets The Only Ones inspired tune, which is from a free 7" with Sounds - quality all the way.

  • PD has a facebook fan page now, if anyone is interested!

  • i've got a hard on for this album.

  • If I remember right the bassist was Josephine Wiggs, later of The Breeders. It was the bass that made 'em.

  • Sounds very much like "Roadrunner" (Jonathan Richmann & the Modern Lovers) to me.

PD always sounded like the UK-version of the Paisley Underground (Dream Syndicate et al) - nice outfit.
