From 1987, here is a commercial for Democrat (later Republican) Congressman Buddy Roemer when he ran for governor of Louisiana. He pledges to serve free of special interests. Roemer won the governor's race but faced many difficulties within the Louisiana political system such that he lost reelection in 1991. He is currently running for president.
