meat juices would drip down on what ever is beneath, but you just have to be concious of adding raw meat (esp pork and chicken), and if you do you just add it at the lower levels, as long as it is not full you cand stagger meats front to back to avoid some of this, also, because bbq is served at well done internal temperature and cooked for long periods of time, exposure to bacteria and the problems of cross contamination are extremely minimized. this pit looks awesome!!!!
