dave grohl also uses basedrum upstrokes when he recorded with queens of the stone age "a song for the dead", you should take a listen. dave grohl also loves "copying" bonhams technique

Ian Paice meet John Bonham's style.

I always thought I was the closest to Bonham, clearly not! Open my eyes to much. Thank you for your time and devotion.

Awesome dude! Bonham in MHO is hard to duplicate! Question... I notice just about everything Bonham does, he leads with the high hat... Getting the beat started... Is it possible to play the upstoke on the bass drum without the high hat keeping time? Or is that the secret to most of this? :)

You need to keep the hi-hat pumpin'. Here's a tip, think of it as double bass drumming with the left foot on hi-hat pedal instead. The hi-hat is keeping the time and this lick is very hard to play when not using hats. So, very important to keep going. Thank you!

another thing if you can help me, i love your snare, how is it tunned?
wich head is mor tigh?

Bottom is very very tight, top is medium tight. Keep tension equal at all lugs. I also have 42 strand snares on there too. Thanks.

OMG you are awesome
well ill bee like a fool saying this, but could you explain in a "graphic" way how to get this sound? i mean, i dont speak english at all T_T i read many coments but still dont get the idea
could you please make some like this
1 - - - 2 - - - 3 - - - 4 - - -
i actually know (or i think i know) the kick on the hats is on 1 2 3 4 but the bass drum is in 1 - (here lol) - 2 - etc. ?

Thank you!
It's actually simple but hard to do and keep smooth.
So 1-2-3-4 is the downbeat count but the upbeat count is the (-) between the numbers. What is key to this sound is the bass drum playing in mostly or all upbeats and the hi-hat playing only downbeats keeping time.
Think of it as double bass drumming, but left foot is on hi-hat. Always start with left then right and alternate back and forth.
I hope this helps get you going :)
