How and why it happened.

Please watch the whole video
before making your mind up

Footage from the public meeting on day 1 of the occupation. This is a good account of how and why the occupation was set up by the initial people there. It show a wide range of opinion and ideas that were brought to the meeting and how we agreed, or not sometimes, on the issues and process of setting up camp.

  • So where's the new Occupy camp in Preston Park you've been going on about on The Argus website for so long????

  • @AmboGuy At the moment there is no new camp. There is a meeting on the 18th Feb 2012 at the Academy of Creative Training 8-10 Rock Place, Brighton. Where the debate will continue.

There may be another camp at some point. But it was not about the camping, it was about the issues. Now the group is mainly concentrating on debates and discussions on the issues rather than camping in the city parks.

  • @porkwilliam Ha ha yeah that sums them up pretty well!

  • White, middle-class kids having a bit of fun pretending to 'slum it'; when it gets too cold, they'll pack-up and go back home to mummy and daddy (leaving the council to clear up all the crap they leave behind).

My favourite photo from Occupy Brighton? A girl sitting next to a sign saying 'Smash Capitalism'; beside her is a Starbucks coffee mug, and she's using a MacBook.

Go home brats, and clear up all your shit when you leave...

  • hahaha "Temperature check on whether Neil the police officer can say anything?" ... some democracy!

  • Open, transparent and honest democracy in action.... more than you get at Westminster!!

  • Stopped watching at "jazz hands"

  • Great to see this up online. Thankyou so much for the upload. :)
