Unknown model Tiesco guitar, with gold foil pickups as used by Ry Cooder on his Strat. My first go at some slide in an open tuning. Early days, I'm a slide-learner. Going through an (early) Ibanez Tube Screamer, and Holy Grail reverb on the way to my 60's Silvertone 1472 amp

  • Very enjoyable, thanks for posting it.

Teisco's rule for sliding, especially the SS-4Ls.

As an FYI, your pickup is not the same type of pickup used by Ry. His '59 Guyatone SS-4L and his '60 Strat use the SS-4L gold foils. 4 on the Guyatone, the neck on the Strat.

Much stronger pickup, best Teisco ever used. Layout is Screws-Slots-Dots. They go for $100-110 on the rare times they come up for sale.

Not slamming your pups, I have 2 guitars with them.

  • Very nice and strong slide sound. Hey, I have been learning slide on an old acoustic, and decided to go electric. I couldn't get my strat or Washburn really sounding right, frets were buzzing, etc, even after raising action. So, I remembered I had an old Teisco someone gave me just sitting there because really didn't sound good. BUT WHEN I raised the strings up and started playing slide through that TEISCO, I COULDN'T BELIEVE IT. The tone was fantastic; are Teisco's great sliders? if notWhat is?

  • I really enjoyed that slide and sound...sweeeeet! Replay! :D

  • The sound of that guitar has definately got something special about it - i think it sounds amazing, pretty good stuff for a first go at slide playing too (i've just begun dabbling in that vicinity myself, seems a bit like learning violin, either puts you on a cloud or melts yer teeth an there's not much inbetween)

  • NICE! I have one of those pickups lurking at the bottom of a parts drawer...this gives me the incentive to stick it in something.

  • Love those old silvertones. Excellent tone man

  • I smell a noob!!!!

    lol, just kidding mate :)
