The role of market as the centre for transaction and the distributional vein for clothing, food and housing needs, is vital for a city identity building. A market is not only used as an economy medium but now also act as the most effective place for politicians in gaining sympathy of the grass root level.

Today traditional market faces rivalries from modern market with a more classy, extremely bombastic names! Offering comfort and facilities that are growing daily to surround us even more in Jakarta, starting from its urban centers up to its peripheries. Modern market then exists as smaller units, available in every kilometer in Jakarta. Traditional markets are getting more helpless each day, some of them are shut down, or are repurposed to house other functions.

Irwan Ahmett and Tita Salina want to reminisce, to remember the shopping habit done with their beloved mother as children; walking through alleyways full of colorful clothes, smelling fresh vegetables, enjoying a warm coconut cake, with smell of salted fish and sellers offering their goods acting as backgrounds. They both did a simple tour to Pasar Minggu, to meet sellers, to talk with some hoodlums and to play with their commodities, more than just to see the realistic condition today's traditional market, and to train sensitivity of the senses, but also to involve those sellers and general public to take part in their creative game. Through this Urban Play project, Ahmett and Salina would like to give meaning to their past through the context of traditional market today that owed no future certainty.
