  • is silhouette spfx free? i checked their website and couldn't find a "store" tab.

  • @LastChill It's Silhouette FX, not spfx. And no, it's not free. They have a purchase tab on their website; the full version is $1,000.

  • @ncaauwe wow, that's expensive! and sorry, someone on YouTube called it "spfx."

  • @LastChill Ah, well they were misinformed. SPFX is the Silhouette company that makes glasses (very nice ones I might add; I'd like to get some next time I get new frames) :P

And yeah, it's a little pricey compared to when they sold the roto and paint licenses separately, but it's very specialized software and certainly the best possible tool for roto. Worth learning, but I'd only worry about buying it if you're making a living with it.

  • Awesome work buddy!!,where can i fing silhoutte studio rotoscoping tutorials.

    Thanks!

  • @LastChill The lightsabers are roto'd in Silhouette, which is what I use everyday for my work. I used After Effects for the lightning, using a mixture of the Advanced Lightning effect and hand-drawn stuff.

  • @ncaauwe sweet! i know shake is the advanced compositing, but what program do you use for animating things like the lightning and light sabers. i'm a filmmaker whose going to buy all this software and i'd like to know what you use in that regard.

  • @LastChill It's very simple. You simply line up the original footage and the final shot in your editing timeline and do a wipe between them.

  • whenever i see digital animation reels, they also show a line swiping the screen from left to right, transitioning from the original footage to the finished product complete with the special effects. please tell me how you do it! what program do you use to make that swipe transition happen and how to you transition between original footage and finished product in real time? it's a small question but I'm always curious every time I see that!

  • Loved the dark house.
