Well basically, the lyrics explains it all. But incase some of you might be confused..
A girl and a guy fall in love before he is sent off to Vietnam, and he writes to her every week saying how much he misses her and how he always remembers her smile when things are getting rough. He shortly passes away but she still feels his presence, but at the end it's time for him to leave so she could try to move on.

I know it's the song's choice but the point I'm driving at is the soldier always dies.Examples being "Thinking of You" by Katey Perry,and "The Ghost of You" by My Chemical Romance....."Wake Me up When September Ends" by Green Day not only has a long name lol,but has a very indiferant ending.....the only happy ending is "When Your Gone" by Avril Lavigne so thats 3 for 4 un-happy ending military couple songs! It's madness!
