If I have learned something in my almost 40 years of life is that almost any "large scale accident" (such WWII, PH attack, Iraq, etc, you name it) is actually carefully planned in advance so I find this "who's to be blamed" debate at least funny... Sure, the U.S. had some sticky hands into ME but the Arabs were fighting each other over some land decades before U.S. military intervention in Iraq (first started in the 1991 Gulf War, ended in the 2003 invasion) and Afghanistan in 2001.

And the U.S. didn't drop the bombs on H & N to avenge Pearl Harbor, it was done to avoid the invasion of Japan that will cost hundreds of thousand U.S. lives. The A-bombs was successful in forcing Japan to surrender without any need to invade the home islands.
