@MrAlexHuff Any stunt/test pilot, for example Chuck Yeager (famous WWII double ace and the first person to break the sound barrier) said, pilots in an emergency are only trying to save themselves. There is too much going on to worry about the audience

Ok. Here.
When airplanes go fast, they naturally pitch up. The Trim tab on airplanes is designed to counter problems like that. The trim tab on the elevator was ripped off, seen at 00:55, (there is a gap in the left elevator). The result was a hard pitch up that most likely knocked the pilot out. The plane went up and came back down, hitting the ground.
And for all of the news networks not knowing what the hell they're talking about, the pilot most likely did not try to "avoid the audience".

god bless everyone in the crash

@goostiby: " I don't even look towards the airport on my way home from work anymore. "
JM: You shouldn't feel that way. Pilots like Jimmy Leeward kept the sport alive to enhance aviation, not detract from it. Don't think of the crash, think of all the fighter pilots that Leeward and others inspired to become pilots. Not just pilots, Fighter Pilots. It's not called "Mission Difficult" it's called "Mission Impossible" for a reason. Only the ones with the right stuff can do it.

@arthurkitchen Yea, I know what happens when we go, I'm a realist. Daytona week was stupid and I've no iterest in Nascar anymore. I'm one of the few who want to see a RACE. I had no interest in seeing Dale Ernhardt's death pictures. I've seen enough broken bones and blood on myself racing motorcycles. It's human morbid curiosity to see that stuff but I'm betting the guy unconcious with a leg missing would have liked that photo removed. His wife lost the same leg. I respect your rights.

I'll give you that. Ghost was beyond modified. Air racing has been killing pilots since it's inception. This may be a sign that racing has run it's course and there really aren't many places that could do this. They fly right over the heads of people at 100 feet turning into the valley of speed. A friend of mine said it right, "if you want to see people die, go to an air show". If it could be safe, it's awsome to watch. I won't go back but hate to see anyone's sport go away.

@goostiby: "farther away than the rules said" Right. Those who were killed were safe according to those rules I take it? Dirt bikes are fine. You only hurt yourself. Nascar too. This is pointless as these 70 year old machines are so out of date what's the point of racing them other than to see someone die!? None of these "geniuses" has placed NACA intake ducts along the fuselage of a P51: 1) Remove doghouse & associated drag. 2) Increased Area Square Rule affect so you go FASTER, DUH!

Woh many people die? Terrible.

Reason at :58 .. no pilot at the controls.
Did the seat mounts let go and the pilot hanging on the stick force a high G pull up ?
At that point anything could let loose like a trim tab as shown.

@TranceFur What you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone on youtube is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul
The heavy metal music and video FX were really unnessesary.
