Southwest Airlines will be the launch customer for Boeing's new 737 MAX airplane, announcing on Tuesday the first firm order for the new aircraft and the largest firm order in Boeing history, for 150 of the new jets worth $19 billion at list prices.

@TSBA92 Boeing has 1000 orders for the 737-MAX and expects the 737-MAX sales will be in the thousands this year. Fact the 737-MAX is lighter, faster, bigger with larger passenger capacity in three different planes. Airline loyalty to Boeing is strong and Airlines save money staying Boeing because there maintenance and repair shop are set up for Boeing. It cost more money to maintain and operate two different jets that have payload. Boeing will easily outsell Airbus this year.

@rb21122b U can send all European jobs to China but Boeing build in the USA for military security and they have a new 787 plant in S Carolina.Your A380 is in real trouble + 18 Billion Euros in debt + in 10 years only 69 are in service. All A380s are delayed 2 years + Airbus has to build 500 A380s to break even We all know the A380 will be canceled + that day is coming real soon. What will happen to Boeing 747-8I sales when the A380 Whale-Jet goes belly up? We will say tsk, tsk we told U so!

AIRBUS SUCKS

@WichitaHawk Your full of bullshit + 737-MAX has over 1000 sales + will surpass A320peon which has new US made engine + a cheap job. Boeing 777 is put the A340 out of business + A330 orders dropped. A350 with 3 redesigns does not have an engine + is delayed till 2017. A380 is 18 Billion Euros in debt + in 10 years + only 69 are built. Airbus only builds 2 A380s per month + must build 500 to break even which means cancellation of the A380 the biggest aviation flop in history. GFY

@WichitaHawk Boeing is doing fine considering their planes are only built inside the US. The only reason Airbus is ahead in orders is because they outsourced their A320's production to China.

Seems to me that Boeing have lost their way and got poor leadership. Early last year they said a brand new 737 was the way to go. Then Airbus pulls off that big order with AA for 260 aircraft, Boeing panics and decides to re-launch the same old aircraft with just enough of an upgrade to keep existing customers sweet (SWA) No leadership, no strategy and no wonder Airbus now sells more aircraft year after year than Boeing does. They have let our country down badly and time for management changes
