Devante is one of the greatest if not the greatest R & B composer of all time....If it wasnt for Devante there wouldn't be a Timbaland, just like if there wasn't a Teddy Riley there wouldn't be a Devante Swing. Every great that comes out helps the next one up...Just give credit when it's due and stop hating...Devante is Great...Plain and simple

timbo is a jack ass for trying to make it seem devante jack his style when it is a the basement sound what makes him better then static mayjor he probaly mad cuz Devante thought static was the most talented out of the group. They all shit on Devante now that ppl dont know about him that much but, timbo should slap himself cuz devante was a Genius and his not timbo makes crazy beats Devante made great music and was more musical then just useing samples. They all need to be thankfully to D

@icecoldcity He did teach him how to use a drum machine. I remember reading an interview Devante did in 09 while on that Jodeci tour in Europe and they asked him about Timbaland 's success and he said he was happy for him. He also said he helped him because when Timbaland got to him he didn't know how to use a drum machine.

@VAswang Quote from a timbaland interview - "Devante did that (Love You Down), but that style came from me. That's my style. He put that style on Tupac's double CD too." He apparently stopped working with Devante when kept hearing his signature style used in songs devante was making...

@timfosho He was referring to those minimalist stutter-type beats on those songs, the ones that later made Timbaland famous. You can tell the songs that Timbaland influenced, and this isn't one of them. DeVante's style and Timbaland's style were obviously different.
