I wrote this song while in Spain on my first visit when I was in my twenty's around 1981. I didn't come to sing it until 2007. I had hitch hiked across the south and came onto a situation in progress. A village well had run dry due to drought. The villager all gathered and discussed the tragic matter at length. The dismay scored my mind since then, in turn the song metaphorically comes across as the right of passage experience of losing a parent. I wrote in the same manner I found the villagers that day, somber with solace in their eyes and the promise of rain to replenish the earth. Roberto Salas - www.robertosalas.com
