E3 2012 Boycott (SOPA + PIPA = POOPA)

^Read my article for a more in-depth discussion on SOPA and PIPA! Hi, my name is Laura, also known as cherubicwindigo on youtube. My humble but passionate blogging and vlogging depend on the internet being free and open. SOPA and PIPA threaten to end my beloved Internet as I know it. The Entertainment Software Association is the lobbying pimp hand smacking the face of video game industy little people like myself by supporting these bills. E3 is North America's biggest gaming event and is run by the ESA and is their biggest souce of revenue. By attending or covering E3 2012 you would inadvertantly be supporting SOPA and PIPA. Some of you know I've been saving up a small fortune to traverse accross my great country to attend E3. As of now those plans are on hold until the ESA removes it's support from these bills. I'd apreciate if you would help spread the word about this boycott to your favorite youtubers and video game websites so they can get in on this action too. They can take our lives but they can never take our internet! Love and Peace, from my PC to yours.

@cherubicwindigo btw, we must not forget that Microsoft were one of the strongest sopa/pipa supporters, maybe the strongest one - i boycott Microsoft since 5 years ago (and i have no plans on using their stuff back) - this about sopa/pipa could be an awesome opportunity for more people boycotting it as well - what are your thoughts about this?

@nitturo Microsoft is a huge corporation, which always leads to lobbying and interfering with politics. Until my country's citizens demand change to the entire legislative system, we won't be able to stop every corporation from buying our politicians. Unfortunately things are going to get much worse before they get better and inevitably a line will be crossed that people just can't accept.

Yeah SOPA and PIPA are really scary bills that weren't very thought out. Way to go to get the word out there. I hope you're able to go to E3 sometime soon. =)

@Gamester81 After listening to you allgengamers go on and on about PAX, I might have to swing my savings in another direction. Either way it's going to cost a pretty penny in travel and lodging expenses but since PAX East is closer, it might not be as ridiculously expensive. I wish I didn't have such a tight budget so I could go to both.

@tvandlust I love how two people can think so differently. I know that I am right and you know you are right. Isn't it fascinating? Perception and reality are so intertwined. I don't even mind being called unreasonable, I've always been more of a Kirk than a Spock anyway. Though it's fiction, those two types of people love and help each other as best friends despite their differences.

@cherubicwindigo Of course I'm not comparing anything to murdering orphans so much as I am making the point that you are forcing other people to make a sacrifice they did not ask for, for YOUR cause. That makes you no better than the architects of SOPA and PIPA.

And even then, I do not believe you to be uncaring. Just the opposite. But that's the problem. You're letting passion trump reason.

@tvandlust I am trying to respect your opinion, you are a few years older than myself and your channel is enjoyable. But comparing a few hotels making less money to brutally murdering orphans by blowing them up, I don't know how I could have possibly given the impression that I am an uncaring person. I'm not going to accuse you of being wrong if you don't boycott E3. Even if you feel that way about me because I am participating in the boycott, I have to do what I think is right.
