Any ballsy marshall tone in this amp.... I know the makers of blackstar are former employees of marshall but its still a different company, m tossing up between the marshall class 5 and the ht-5 (both valves, both 5 watts), I play blues; clapton, Rock; satriani, vai and of coarse hendrix. Do you think the ht-5 would do it for me?

And whats up with the clean channel on the ht-5?? I hyave heard from guys saying there is no break up on the clean as the volume is increased. Sweet demo though!!!!

I think that the ht5 is a good amp , and very general-purpose;

I do not know enough the marshall class 5 , because I did not test

Oh yeah! This is the exact guitar and head I am thinking about getting. Sounds a little deep on the lows, where are your knobs at?

The clean channel starts breaking up past 12 oclock. But very gradually. If you set it just below halfway (say 11:55) and put an overdrive in front, it is bliss.... And it gives you more volume and headroom than the overdrive channel. You want it Heavier? Just put a quality dist pedal in front. I use the clean channel as basic tone and get the gain from Blackstar's own HT Drive and DistX but the drive is gainy enough. Just perfect.

It's a 5 watt tube amp, ofcourse the clean channel breaks up...

I would buy the blackstar, you have 2 channels, you have to crank the marshall to get an overdrive...
