What a load of rubbish. The harp seal population is scientifically monitored (and expanding). The cull is sustainably managed and the animals are humanely dispached - a blow to the head with an iron bar is about as quick as gets.

But that's not good enough for these people, they want to stop sustainable harvesting of the planets resouces.

If you want to get hot under the collar over an issue then go the slums of the third world.

@Laoch111 You see 400,000 is our quota,It is set based on % of how many animals can be harvested without impacting or decreasing the population, In the 70s the pop was around 3 million,& multiplied every year to 9 million for this years count, for argument sake take the 9 million seals to date,& lets say 3 million of them are females nursing pups, then even if the 400000 quota is taken this year then there is still a huge increase of the whole harp seal population!

@223gunner 400,000 is only for this year. If next years quota is 400,000 then that adds up to 800,000 and so on. How many seals have been slaughtered over the years? Far more than 5 million, I'd say.
