Dirty engine oil does NOT mean that the oil is old or the engine is not maintained. The viscosity of the oil on the dip stick is what to look for. Thick oil on the dip stick when the engine is cold is BAD.

Another tire thing to check. Make sure they match. If tires are rotated and wearing evenly, they are replaced as a set. If somebody replaced one or two, it could be hiding a problem. Two tires of different brands, but the same size, aren't always the same diameter. With anti lock brakes, all wheel drive, or traction control, size can make a difference. You can look at the site for the tire rack and see how overall diameter can differ by checking the specs for different tires.

I did not even think of checking all of the four tires. Thank You for this very informative post. If you have time could you post a video detailing how to check if the vehicle you are buying has a steering wheel.
Once again......Thank You so very much.
