Arranged in Open G. I've got the capo on the 3rd fret but Nic plays it without the capo. The first time I heard this was the Fairport Convention version on Full House. Nic's is the only other version I know of but there are probably several more. I think that Nic plays it something like this on Ballads And Songs - probably needs to be tweeked a wee bit. It's #58 of the Child Ballads, but there are several variants.
Yes, I know I need to work on the vocals - can't seem to find the right register, but I wasn't banking on doing a full cover, until it was requested.....
It's a fun tune to learn on the guitar, there are obviously other ways of fingering it, but this seems to me the most economical - you can play the round down 7-5-4-0 on the 3rd string by just playing the first note and letting the left hand do the rest, which also gives you greater control than 3-1-0 on the 2nd string and then open on the 3rd.
Nice version, Nick: your vocal style reminds me of Martin Carthy.
Kris Drever does a great version of this too.

Absolutely fantastic! Great playing and singing. It's a lovely tune. Though I didn't hear it before, I can tell you did a great job! I really enjoyed it. I should check out more of Nic Jones's songs.

@DerSekundenfaenger Thanks very much. There are quite a lot of Nic's songs and tunes on YT. Sam Carter, amongst others, has done a couple of really good covers.
