  • It was the longest bus ride home in my life, Everly seem to be a 100,000 miles away. I felt so sorry for Jennette missing that last shot in regulation. The girls worked so had all season pouring their guts out! Hello to everyone from Everly On saturdays and sundays, I would love to rebound for Jennette at the gym, watching her style, with power and gace was a site to see. Hello Jennette from

Marty the little fourth and fifth grade boy from the gym!

  • Now the Everly Cattlefeeders have become the Clay Central-Everly Mavericks, it doesn't quite have that same uniqueness.

  • The announcer for that historic game is Jim Zabel, who is entering his 64th year in broadasting (yes since 1944 and still active on WHO radio in Des Moines).

  • I too grew up in this TINY town...I have now moved far away and people still know us at the "cattlefeeders" I guess this was Everly's proudest moment in history...

  • at the end they are talking about people knowing who the cattlefeeders were. I went to school in Everly and I am 21, and people still ask me about it when they find out where I am from.

  • A Cattlefeeder reference on youtube? I was 6 at the time and also played for the Cattlefeeders albeit on the football team, but this still is a nice trip down memory lane. I remember Coach Johnson as the principal when I graduated....way back when there was still Cattlefeeders.

  • I was at that game! I was 8 yrs old, and later played for the Cattlefeeders, myself. Yes, it was a pretty wonderful experience.

  • Oops. I meant Peg Petersen. Wore a rubber band around her wrist.

  • Thank you for sharing this! My All-Time All-Everly Team:

Forwards: Peg Peterson, Jill Scharnberg, Jeanette Olson

Guards: Sylvia Groenwald, Connie Kunzmann, Lynda Nordstrom.

Honorable Mention: Karen Klett, Sharon Walton, Diane Lux, Susan Morfitt

Let us not forget the man who started it all: Bill Haines

    Great memories.
