Actually, IRS data show a sharp increase in income tax revenues following the 2003 tax rate cuts. Moreover, the top 1% of earners came to increase their share of tax contribution to 39% of the total. So much for "tax cuts for the rich".

TARP added 700 billion to the deficit last year. Somewhat more than a mere drop.

Outside of your neocon world, it has been PROVEN that the tax cuts CAUSED the recession we are in currently. Outside your neocon world, Clinton created a surplus, $327 billion. We kept hearing how Clinton created this trillion dollar surplus. Yet, it never came close. Then we had a recession, turned around by the '03 tax rate cuts.

Too much spending gave us this deficit, largely brought on by the TARP bill Obama voted for. Now he claims he inherited the deficit he helped create.

Barely a month into office, we now have more than a trillion of deficit, and he wants even more spending.
