Giant Hermit Crab

A short video of a fully grown Common Hermit Crab - Pagurus bernhardus. The legspan of these beasts can reach 15cms. The crab is often identified by its huge right claw. The crab was named Greg Grunberg, after the actor who plays Matt Parkman in Heroes.

This crab is a jumbo, but it is only slightly larger than the biggest one I used to have. I am reasonably certain that the one in this video is an Ecuadorian.

I can assure you it is a common hermit crab - Pagurus bernhardus. It was filmed in the UK, on the east coast in Scarborough.

That is a marine hermit crab, you can tell by the eyes. Those live underwater and will die when out of the water.

For people who keep saying this is a strawberry or E hermit crab, it's not. It's a marine hermit crab, not an LHC.
