In this clip from www.artistshousemusic.org - Jeff Dorenfeld, Associate Professor of Music Business/Management at Berklee College of Music, discusses the various revenue streams that are generated by a major concert tour -- how the band makes money, who benefits from sponsorship deals, what facility fees are, where advance ticket grosses go, and much more.
It's still disconcerting that 90% (?) of the ticket revenue comes from bands who started in the 70s.

This is all putting the cart before the horse because your not going to get a tour unless you have a hit on the radio and your not going to get a record deal unless you let a queer like clive davis do something queer to you
