I agree - the Goldfrapp video is better executed which is really the only reason to do a remake....be it of the '87 video or original film. So many music videos are lifted from great films. I feel there should be some mention/credit. I mean, especially when you factor in how many videos outright stole brilliant ideas from avant-garde filmmakers...people who cared about NOT being commercial so as to have a pure experience with the art of cinema as a fine art form. That kind of borrowing is wrong

but the goldfrapps version is wayyy better

Really sorry Echdrum! We'd never seen the Peter Wolf video! Peter Wolf wasn't so big here in the UK.

As Fozzy2oo2 points out - the Goldfrapp video (and Peter Wolf's) gets its inspiration from Bobby Van's stunning performance in Small Town Girl. You can see the clip here on You Tube as it so happens... I like Peter Wolf/J Geils Band - but the Goldfrapp video definitely is a superior effort as an homage to the late, great Bobby Van.

Great job, and thank you for adding / educating. I like 'goldfrapp' a LOT- but as soon as I saw this video (3 min's ago) I screamed "come as you are!" (the copycatters actually think that no one will remember- shame). Now, there is a CHANCE that they may be "paying homage" to a fun video that most have forgotten or should C- but then they should list it at the beginning. Thank you for adding the directors name as well. Good on ya!
Thanks for the video! Although I was actually in the Goldfrapp version, and I know for a fact, that the director did not intentionally copy the Peter Wolf's video. Both videos inspiration were taken from a 1940's musical film called 'Small Town Girl'. I have seen the original footage (because I had to for the Goldfrapp shoot) and Peter Wolf's version is almost shot-for-shot, Goldfrapp's video is loosely based on the 40's film. But I can see why people think we copied Peter Wolfe, but we didn't!

Of course they are both copying shot for shot Bobby Van's incredible dance in Small Town Girl - " Hippety Hop" 1953 - choreographed by Busby Berkeley himself! Itt's a classic, good it's remembered. Too bad the original is lost for many.
