Shortly after being discovered by John Peel, Dolly Mixture signed to Chrysalis Records in 1980. Their first single was a cover of "Baby It's You," originally done by The Shirelles and later covered by bands like Smith. The B-side of this track was "New Look Baby" which is here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Xg1xILZOpg
Dolly Mixture apparently was not fond of this song, as they thought their record label was trying to promote them as a pop teen girl group instead of as post-punk cuties
(the song's only 2:51, i don't know why youtube added all that empty space at the end...)
It's weak, make no mistake. Odd choices were typical in the 80s. I mean, who can explain Australia's Kylie Minogue's version of 'The LocoMotion', and others? Well, Australia seem to have produced more terrible acts than good. The good: The Easy Beats, Toni McCann, and maybe, Yvonne Barrett.
